Salary: £27,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week (weekdays and weekends). Some evening work required for special events.

Job Description
The Café Supervisor at VCF will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of The Farm’s hospitality services. This role requires a dynamic and customer-focussed individual who can provide exceptional leadership to the hospitality team while maintaining a high standard of service. The Café Supervisor will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall visitor experience at The Farm and contributing to The Farm’s sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership
• Build and maintain a high-performing hospitality team to deliver outstanding visitor experiences.
• Manage and lead a team of hospitality staff, including front of house, catering and event coordination.
• Recruit, train, and develop staff to ensure the delivery of excellent customer service and that they are compliant.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
2. Hospitality Operations
• Ensure efficient workflow, including scheduling, inventory management and maintenance of facilities.
3. Visitor Experience:
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall visitor experience within the hospitality areas.
• Gather feedback from visitors and use it to make improvements.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that reflects The Farm’s values.
4. Catering and Events:
• Manage catering for events, parties and special occasions hosted on The Farm.
• Collaborate with event planners and clients to ensure seamless event execution.
• Drive revenue growth through catering services and private event bookings.
5. Financial Management:
• Work with the Senior Management Team to develop and manage budgets for the hospitality department.
• Work with the Senior Management Team to Monitor Financial performance, analyse data, and make adjustments as needed to achieve revenue targets.
6. Sustainability and Social Responsibility:
• Promote sustainable practices within the hospitality department, including sourcing local and organic products.
• Integrate sustainable and ethical practices into hospitality operations, supporting the farm’s wider sustainability goals.
7. Compliance and Safety:
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
8. Other Duties
• Perform any other tasks reasonably requested by the head of Events and Marketing.
Health & Safety
• Comply with all statutory and company health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure job required certificates are kept up to date (e.g. First Aid, Safeguarding, DBS checks).
• To comply with the arrangements to deliver services in accordance with the Vauxhall City Farm’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
• To renew training on Food Hygiene and Safety every 3 years and ensure the hospitality team have relevant up-to-date training.
Requirements:
• Food handler’s license
• Management experience in the hospitality industry
• Knowledge of food safety regulations
• Degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
Special Conditions
This position will involve contact with vulnerable people. The post holder will therefore be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance on appointment and on an appropriate review basis thereafter.
