Programme: Summer of Food & Fun

in July and August Vauxhall City Farm was one of the delivery hubs in the Lambeth & Southwark ‘Summer of Food and Fun‘ programme, managed by Kitchen Social and funded by the Mayor of London, delivering a summer programme for children aged 8-12, combining sessions on the farm and online and remote activities, with a free meal on all programme days. Children had the opportunity to meet the animals on the farm and learn about their care, try their hand at gardening, learn about healthy eating, and most importantly, have lots of summery, outdoor fun!

Below are some of our favourite photographs, as well as the feedback we received from parents!

Maddison really, really enjoyed the programme and learning about the animals and even more so being able to handle/groom/feed them. She also enjoyed the gardening and building the insect hotel. She came home with lots of stories every Thursday.

As a parent I was very confident that she was well looked after and that there were special measures in place on the farm to keep everyone safe because of COVID.

Brooke was really spoilt. It was quite unbelievable how nice it was for her to come to the farm.

Mati and I are extremely grateful that he was participating in the program. He made such a progress in terms of looking after animals, gardening, and food making. The best part for him was how to make the butter. It was super nice. We ate all of it!
