Job Description
To deliver educational programmes that take place at Vauxhall City Farm and at other related off-site venues such as schools and festivals. To engage with the local community by facilitating events and activities for the young and old.
Key Responsibilities
– To deliver our educational programmes encompassing themes of animal education and care, environmental awareness, sustainability, farming, healthy living and food production.
– To ensure that all Safeguarding and Health and Safety requirements for schools and visiting children are implemented and adhered to.
– To support with programme administration.
– To work closely with the education team to ensure all programmes are delivered to the highest standard.
– To work occasional evenings and weekends.
Other reasonable duties as required.
– To comply with the arrangements made to deliver services in accordance with the Vauxhall City Farms Equal Opportunities Policy.
– To adhere to all health and safety instructions and not to do anything that might endanger themselves or others; to report to their line manager any dangerous situations in the work place or any shortcomings in health and safety arrangements that they perceive.
Personal Specification
The ideal candidate will have significant experience working with children and young people preferably in an environmental or outdoors education setting. Experience working alongside children and adults with individual needs is desirable. The candidate will have proven organisation skills and experience in managing groups. Applicants should have a good understanding of Health and Safety procedures and Safeguarding practices. Candidates should already be in possession of or be willing to undertake an enhance DBS check. Good customer service skills and strong communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and in small teams are essential.
Special Conditions
This position will involve contact with young people. The post holder will therefore be subject to an enhanced DBS clearance on appointment and on an appropriate review basis thereafter.
