Summer School

At Vauxhall City Farm we realise that the school holidays are a busy time for families, and finding something to keep everyone occupied can be tough. So, every summer we like to offer a programme for our local community to offer on-farm learning throughout the holidays.

In previous years we have run a range of Summer Day Activities where visitors took part in daily drop in sessions, hosted the Guide Dogs Summer Party, and teamed up with Lambeth Council as a part of the Lambeth & Southwark Summer of Food & Fun, a project aimed to provide meals to eligible families who had missed out on their provision, due to the first COVID lockdown.

Summer School programmes at Vauxhall City Farm focus on activities that ensure children have a lot of fun, while deepening their understanding of farming, gardening, ecology, and the natural world, as well as connect to their local city farm and the local community.

Programmes in the past included sessions around dairy products, animal care, insects, gardening, and much more.

Feedback has always been overwhelmingly positive from all involved, praising the variety of activities, the manner of the staff leading them, and the level of learning and enjoyment achieved by each child taking part.

The future looks to be a very different landscape for our communities, but we still hope to provide Summer programmes every year, for many years to come.

If you are interested in being involved in our next Summer School please keep an eye on our news section for updates, or get in contact with the Education Team.
