Bert and Ernie are our two lovely rescue donkeys and have been at the farm since 2016.

They came to us from Ireland, via Devon and The Donkey Sanctuary and are with us through the Donkey Sanctuary Foster Scheme where as many abandoned donkeys as possible are matched with suitable homes.

Donkeys on average live 30 years and should be kept in pair, as they get terribly lonely by themselves!

Donkeys come in a wide range of sizes and colours and can weigh up to 500kg, so it is to be expected that their rough and tumble, is a little bit rougher than we are used to, so please don't worry if you see Bert and Ernie chasing each other around the paddock, kicking and biting. It's a perfectly normal behaviour for these guys! At the end of the day, they will always snuggle up together in the stable and be the best of friends again. If they are not trying to dump their food bowl on the other's head...

It's safe to say they keep us on our toes!

Did you know that you can support the farm by adopting our animals? Why not adopt the donkeys
