While the farm is too small to have cows all year round or to support adult cows for any period of time, we do love cows! So we have teamed up with Lewis of London (whose ice cream you can purchase in The Old Dairy Café) and once a year, two of their soon-to-be dairy calves come and live at our city farm for a few months.

This allows our visitors to see cows in the city, on a farm that would normally be too small to be a permanent home to them and it allows us to talk about the dairy industry. Lewis of London is a small, family run business. They keep 200 milking cows on 300 acres of land, which is why we are happy to work with them.

Whether you are vegan, vegetarian or a committed carnivore makes no difference to us! We don't want to influence people's life choices, but we want to educate people on where their food comes from, so everyone can make informed decisions about their choices.

This starts at an early age with our school workshops, is part of what our young farmers and work experience students learn about, and continues all the way to adult visitors asking us where the calves' mothers are.

City farms are all about education!
