Get Started With Animal Care – Rida

We are delighted to be working as a delivery partner for The Prince’s Trust Get Started Programme.

In this role we are currently delivering Get Started with Animal Care; a week long course which engages unemployed young people and gives them an opportunity to learn and get involved with caring for animals; everything from basic care (feeding & grooming) to deeper themes such as enrichment.

As part of the course all young people participating have the opportunity to complete a three year animal first aid qualification.  We are very proud of this association with The Prince’s Trust and being able to support their young people to take positive steps towards employment.

“I’d always loved animals but didn’t know where to start with pursuing a relevant career,” says Rida Amir, 21, who took part in The Prince’s Trust – Get Started With Animal Care programme with the help of City Bridge Trust funding and is now studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management at Capel Manor College.

Just five days on the Get Started course at Vauxhall City Farm proved transformative.

“I learned how to build my confidence and set realistic goals,” she says.
