How do I find the farm?
If arriving by underground take exit 3. At the top of the steps you will see a tunnel on your right. Go through it and under the bridge. On the other side of the tunnel cross the road in front of the Royal Vauxhall Tavern and walk between the giant black pillars and cross the grass. It is less than a 5 minute walk.
Yes, it is always free to visit as individuals or families! Large groups need to book. Please visit our Education page for more details. If you have enjoyed yourself please consider making a donation to support our work.
Can we touch the animals? What about feeding?
Many of the large animals often come up to the fences in the yard or the paddocks and like to be stroked or scratched. There may be a member of staff available to help you stroke the small animals - just ask. The chickens are free ranging but please don't chase them or pick them up. Always remember to watch your fingers and wash your hands thoroughly after touching.
Generally visitors are not able to feed the animals as each animal has a special diet designed to keep it healthy. This includes bread for the ducks and carrots/ apples for the ponies. During the school holidays (and some weekends) we have feeding sessions where children can help feed the chickens, rabbits, pigs and large animals - check the 'What's On' page for more details.

Yes, the whole farm is accessible and we have an accessible toilet with baby changing facilities. If you would like to leave your pushchair you are welcome to park it (at your own risk) in the entrance.
Sadly no! But we can recommend somewhere local to get a bit to eat. For amazing cake ask a member of staff for directions to the Tea House Theatre.
As we have free-ranging livestock we can't have any dogs on site, even well behaved ones. Guide dogs are of course welcome.
Due to the risks associated with eating on the farm we can unfortunately no longer allow visitors to eat on-site. We apologies for any inconvenience. When sunny it's nice to sit out on Spring Gardens where you can watch the horses riding.
Is it muddy?
Most of the farm is on concrete but a few parts can be muddy. Wellies, walking boots or old trainers are best.
As long as you wash your hands after touching the animals the risk of catching anything is extremely low. We also recommend rinsing your shoes and the wheels of pushchairs when you get home. We take every measure possible to prevent the spread of disease and are inspected regularly by environmental health. If you would like to know more our health and safety policy is available on request and you can download our safety leaflet here.
The animals themselves are all tame and friendly but of course, being animals, there is always a risk of biting and scratching that we cannot rule out. Avoid putting your fingers near the animals' mouths and please don't pick up animals without a member of farm staff to help you.
If you are pregnant or think you might be you should avoid contact with sheep and goats as there is a risk of contracting disease that could harm you and your child. For more information please see the NHS website.

We can very occasionally take pets in need of rehoming but usually we have no space. Please email Jo at jo.manby@vauxhallcityfarm.org.
Can I adopt/ sponsor the animals?
Yes please! Sponsoring a farm animal helps us pay for their feed, bedding and veterinary care. Small animals are only £10 a year and large animals are £15 so sponsorship makes a perfect gift. Who wouldn't like to receive a ferret for Valentine's day or a goat for Secret Santa? You can download the sponsor form here.
