Curriculum based Workshop sessions

Food, Glorious Food! Session 1
This workshop gets children thinking about animals and their relationship to the environment, along with the unfolding of the food chains; learning about how food is produced, the concept of food miles and the importance of a healthy diet. Children will learn through games: taking part in a food chain role-plays, to ‘dissect a dinner’, to learn about food groups, explore the allotments for food growing on the farm and milk our life-sized plastic cow!

Green Explorers - Curriculum based session 2
Children explore the farm looking at how plants grow, investigate the farm and neighbouring green spaces for flora and fauna and carry out their own mini nature experiments. This session is based around the ‘senses’- children are encourage to use only their hands when ‘meeting a tree’, and to find its ‘heartbeat’, to use sight and touch when taking part in scavenger hunts and to explore their own sq meter of grass land to observe life within that space.

Aren’t Animals Great! - Curriculum based session 3
The workshop explores the variety of animals on the farm. Children will learn about the characteristic features of the animals and the different ways of walking, where they live and the food they eat. This practical workshop allows children to make their own nests, which will enable them to think about habitat design, compare and contrast human beings with animals through role-play games, activities and drawing.
